I'ma be real. I was burnt the fuck out. My body was feeling raggedy and soul was feeling weary. I've been burnt out before but this time it was hitting different. Normally I would just nap my ass off the best I could and then proceed to continue what I was doing.
But like I said this time was different. I can be a bit dramatic at times but I actually felt like I was dying. If I didn't get some deep needed rest then life would be over. There were times where I would wake up and just feel my body wanting to pass out. My body was tired and she was needing me to care for her differently that I ever had. You really have to do shit differently in yours 30s. I set the intention to spend 21 days resting at Bestie's house in Boston.
At the time of this it's currently Day 15 and I feel SO MUCH better than I did that the day than I arrived. It also put into perspective that I CAN NOT let myself get like this ever again. I remember my friend Takiya sharing with me that she would ask her body what was her energy reserves levels.
I decided that I was going to ask my body the same question and I got the answer -383. When I received that number, I was like yikes, you need to save yourself Beloved. I wasn't surprised by this since I was frolicking in the land of overextending.
So my trip wasn't needed, it was necessary to my well-being. Since I've been here I have had the time to read, rest and reflect on how I got here and to catch up on The Chi.
As I stated above, I can't let myself get down bad ever again. I have also realized the following:
-I need to step my boundary game up.
-People don't have to get it and I ain't explaining it.
I have probably repeated that I was going to Boston to rest a million times. But yet, people were still asking me was I going to work and meet with people. I did not take any of this personal but it definitely made me yea we are hella programmed as a people. When did rest and working go together? Do they even sound similar? They're actually polar opposites of each other. Why does when someone mention rest, their brains go to working? I mean I know why, but damn. Can people rest anymore without the third degree? If someone says they need a rest, tell them have a great time! Give them the same energy as if they were going out the country. But resting is a foreign land in our day to day.
During this journey I decided to reread Rest is Resistance by Tricia Hersey. This time I'm reading the book slower and it's still ripping my edges. The main thing that struck a chord so far was reading, "You don't have to rest to recharge to do more work".
Let me tell you something.
One of the main objectives for me resting was so that I can DO. Once I read that, it felt like something was ripped out of my subconscious immediately. I also felt some energy return back to myself and I immediately feel asleep. Reading that part also can me some another layer of peace to enjoy guilt free rest.
My body needed rest because she needs rest.
I'm resting for myself and no one else.
It also made me reflect to when I was heavy on social media and I made a post about me resting because I wasn't feeling well or something. Someone replied and said, "Aw feel better because we need you."
Ew.
That comment made me scrunch my face up and I'm 10000% sure I probably had some inner thoughts that contained all the curse words in the dictionary. Asking, implying or thinking that someone needs to rest to serve you is fuckin wild. Like how did we get here?
I believe I was listing things I've been realizing so let me get back to the list....
-Get in your damn body.
Over the past year I have experienced so many changes and spiritual shedings. I was not in my body. I was all over the place. Baby I was giving wind and running on fumes. lol. I knew I needed to clear some things out. Months before I got here I started looking at Pranic Healers in Boston. I knew Reiki and Pranic healing was going to be a BIG PART of my restoration. So I got in contact with Christian Verde of Boston Pranic Healing and booked a session immediately.
Yes, I could've Pranic myself, but it feels good when I can relax and get the healing from someone else. He asked what my focus and I said that I'm exhausted and wore out. I don't even think I had anything else to say at that moment. I was at the point of just PRANIC ME!
For the session I relaxed and started feeling the tingles and energy going through my body. I was so excited and grateful to be on the other end of a Pranic Session. When he finished I felt so relaxed. He informed me of the state of my chakras, which was raggedy lol. Let me use better words, in Pranic Healing, the chakras can be depleted, normal or congested. He said when he started everything was congested. Not surprised at all. (Don't worry the session brings them back into balance) He also confirmed some things I was feeling for myself along with my favorite theme in life, "Forgiveness". *insert eye roll*. After giving tips, he left I made dinner and I passed out for the night.
The next day I was so tired. I slept majority of the day. My body was just processing energy and the next day I felt like new money. I felt more in my body.
One of the things that stuck out in my session is that I needed to move my body more. Sure I was a walker, but I was also coming to terms that I needed to do MORE. Walking was too cute and for doing all the spiritual work that I do with myself and people, I basically need to swim to Brazil and back daily. So I made the conscious decision to do Root Chakra/Grounding Yoga daily for at least 30 minutes. It felt good! I was finding parts of my body that I haven't moved in a while, I was also releasing tears from where my body was holding energy. I was so grateful for the power of yoga. It is truly healing to my body.
This was a game changer as well because I felt like I was coming back into myself. It also made me think "Where the hell you been at girl?"
My disposition was shifting with the quickness. The gift of exhaustion is that it brings a new level of boundaries and awareness. Things I would normally invite myself to do, I was noticing that I was like "NAh".
I'm also noticing that I'm getting my excitement back for life. Burnout caused me to resent the things that I naturally love to do.
It also dawned on me that things that you love to do can also make you tired and it's ok to take breaks. Gotta keep things fresh!

Many of you are highly intuitive and you just need to embrace it.
I've have seen and heard too many instances when people try to talk themselves out of what they're feeling or what they've seen. Some of that is due to not wanting to face the truth, an innate programming to think your natural makeup is demonic, inner programming of being to be quiet or all of the above.
Your intuition ignites you to express your truth and that can come in many forms such as speaking, writing, art, etc.
But if you were told consciously and unconsciously that what you felt wasn't valid then it can cause you to second guess yourself or even talk yourself out of opportunities or the next steps part of your life journey.
Whenever you feel something and it feels strange, just sit with it. Also know that your intuition has a purpose.

It seems since October rolled around (interesting coined Domestic Violence Month) abuse after abuse stories have been rolling out. It's also needs to be noted that October is shared by Libra (relationships) and Scorpio Season (hidden motives, power, dominance). Then throw Sagittarius season in there with that good ole Jupiter energy, we're getting an overflow of exposure.
October was also a month that held two eclipses, one in the sign of Taurus (relationships) and the other was in the sign of Libra (relationships). I believe these eclipses shed a brighter light on the war within relationships and it's going to continue to intensify over the next 6 months.
But if you've been connected with me for a while then you know that eclipse energy last for 6 months.
May 5th of this year we had an eclipse in the sign of Scorpio (hidden motives, power, obsession). Look where we are now in November with the headlines in the news and within our communities.
All this basically means is, if there is war energy present in your relationships, you'll be spiritually prompted to stand up for yourself. War isn't only subject to be physical and I think that's how a lot abuse gets overlooked and swept under the rug. War requires strategy and a mental spar to spiritually break down a being. Most abusive relationships are mentally abusive and spiritually draining before it even elevates to the physical.
Not to mention abuse can cause fragments of the aura to be dispersed along with holes. Holes create leaks and the abuser feeds off what isn't shielded, enclosed or protected. Which is why people in abusive relationships or reside in environments where they're not being honored tend to feel constantly fatigued as if they can never feel energized. Abuse feeds off being an unhealthy host of dominant energy.
Abuse check in questions:
Are you being loved properly?
Are you being spoken to with respect?
Are you being recognized and honored?
Are your boundaries in place?
Are you the draining in your relationships or giving too much to them?
How is your mental state in your closest relationships?
Are you emotionally secure?
Is your physical or mental wellness being compromised?
Do you have to tip-toe in your relationships so the other person doesn't get upset?
Can you fully be yourself?
As always protect yourself and if you're in an unsafe situation (physically, emotionally or mentally) then start to gather your resources to get the fuck out)

October 2, 2016 and I was gifted a Human Design Reading with Kevone Fair of Activation Coaching. I knew I was a Projector but I had no clue on what that really meant. All I knew was that I wasn't an "energy type", needed rest and I had to wait for some invitation.
The aura types in Human Design:
-Generator
-Manifesting Generator
-Projector
-Manifestor
-Reflector
(just because you see Manifesting or Manifestor, it has nothing to do with intentions and manifesting a new car, so get that out your head now because all aura types can manifest)
When I found out I was a Projector, I was pissssssssssssssed. The little information I knew regarding being a Projector was the complete opposite of how I operated and how this society operates. But nonetheless, I was excited about my reading because who doesn't love a good reading. I had also sat in on an Intro to Human Design workshop online and in person at a retreat taught by him and his wife Michelle Gaza, so I knew he knew his shit.
The reading actually surpassed my expectations and helped me transition into accepting being a Projector in Human Design. So many things started to make sense on why certain things happened and why certain things didn't happen in my life. There were also a nice amount of things that needed to be redirected in my life. That feeling of something being "off" was just me not operating in my design.
I learned so much about myself and actually got to experiment (still experimenting) and watch it unfold over 7 years because once you get activated through your reading, the seven deconditioning process starts. Yes, you heard me. 7 years from the reading. Just knowing your type doesn't start the process. You need to know more than just your aura type and get acquainted with your unique blueprint. Argue with your Mama.
This time period is how long it takes to pretty much reset and get acclimated to your design. Many people think they can skip this process, I was one of those people, then life quickly shows you that you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
Weeks (maybe months) prior to turning seven, something happened internally and I'm trying not to freak out, but I can't really put into words what I'm feeling. But when the shift was FELT.
Let me be clear, I've had 3 readings with Kevone and my life made more sense every time.
My favorite thing about being a Projector is that I work well 1:1, hence all my services. Throughout my entire life I have always enjoyed and felt like I blossomed in those type of settings. Life is tricky, brutal and beautiful. It's everything and more. There will never be just one current flow in your life. Unexpected things happen, relationships change and sometimes death makes an appearance (this isn't just limited to people).
But what I have noticed within myself, and others is that you have a choice. You can resist or you can flow. Sometimes the flow is scary because you don't know where you're landing but you know a destination is ahead.
But what you may feel to realize is that flow comes with everything resistance does, tears, uncertainty, stirring internal feelings, wtf moments, losing and gaining simultaneously. They both involve a grieving period. The key is to decide is how you will acknowledge it.
So if you're struggling with something, just know that you have a choice and back that bitch up with some intentions. Ultimately you have the power to decide how your life will flow.
You can most definitely be sad, but if your ultimate goal is to be happy, then choose and incorporate things that will birth happiness from within.
Set the intention to be a happy being.
You can most definitely be stuck, but if your goal is to have momentum, you can choose to look at "stuck" moments as recovery periods.
Set intentions for your current status to serve as a launching pad.
You can most definitely be sick, but if your desire is to have wellness, you could choose to incorporate healthy decisions.
Set intentions for a healthy body and choose to eat some damn fresh vegetables.
In a world where it's pushed that you're powerless, I'm here to remind you that you have all the power.

I got connected to Tashia through Facebook and we just clicked! We have traveled to retreats together, co-hosted webinars and I have had so much fun in her in-person and virtual dance classes. She is a Creatress of many talents; freelance writer (she can write a story that will have you wanting more), candle artisan, wellness brand representative, sensuality coach and still evolving within her greatness. But today, we’re going to talk with her about feminine energy.
IA: Can you paint us a picture of what it means for a woman to be in tune with her feminine energy?
TA: Oh absolutely. A woman in tune with her feminine energy knows that everything flows through her.... and to her. There's a sense of ease and surrender that she embodies knowing that she doesn't have to toil, resist, fight or even "work hard" for the things she desires. The simple fact that she desires it is what helps magnetize it to her. A woman in tune with her feminine energy is just as open to receiving as she is to giving and nurturing. there's a beautiful balance between these two states that she dances within and benefits from. She also knows that her femininity never makes her "weak", but instead fills her up with inner confidence of her essence that naturally oozes out of her.
IA: When did you fully awaken to your sensuality? Were you always in tune with yourself?
TA: Whew, I feel like I've been in these sensual streets for a good minute! LOL. For me, I awakened to my sensuality pretty young. There were some things that happened in my life that opened me up to it a little sooner than most. I can remember the early days of awakening to this part of me as way back as when I first started my menses (at the age of 9-10). Experiencing my body develop through the stages of puberty kind of kickstarted it for me. With that said, I can say that I've always been in tune in some way. Now, of course, I didn't fully start owning my sensuality until I was about 20-22, which was when I started to become various photographers' muses in the realm of sensual modeling and nude modeling. THAT was when the journey got really interesting.
IA: Are the women in your family tapped into their juiciness like you are? Have you ever received any backlash from those close to you for being in flow with your feminine energy?
TA: The answer to this question is going to blow peoples' mind but...no, I haven't experienced a lot women in my life tapped into their juiciness like I am. The closest women in my life that have exhibited their versions of femininity would definitely be my mother and maybe 1-2 one of my aunts. Other than that, I'm a new breed LOL. And based on my experiences with connecting to my ancestors on my maternal side, I realized that I'm more like them than my living relatives in that regard. It's something I got confirmation of a little over a year ago actually. I am the descendant of my line that gets to continue this work in this way as they couldn't finish in their time due to many factors. I am honestly still learning more about my family and am sure I'll uncover more women tapped into their juiciness in divine timing.
I've definitely received some backlash earlier in my 20's when I was doing sensual modeling. That was something that made me feel SO liberated, to the point where my family saw a good bit of my images that I posted via social media. They didn't understand why I wanted to pursue something like that. In more recent times, I received some subtle shade directed towards the type of lifestyle I desired (sexy, black, stay-at-home woman who draws in abundance from her juicy businesses from home) from both family and select friends because "I had a child now and my dreams needed to be put on the side" and "I needed to work hard to make sure my child was taken care of" and so many more opinions. When I was pregnant, those projections did get to me, but I had such a headstrong sense of determination and self-preservation to keep attracting what I desired that at some point, I didn't care what they thought. The funny thing about backlash is that it turns into praise when you prove them all wrong, haha.
IA: You're the mother of a beautiful two-year-old and still considered a "new mom". How do you find time to tap into your juiciness in the realm of motherhood?
TA: Girl, let me tell you! Becoming a new mom really made me level up in my femininity and sensuality! After what I went through with the father of child earlier on in my pregnancy while also traveling back and forth to each side of the country, I realized that preserving my sensual self was really important. In many ways, it kept me sane! So I started to really cultivate this new level of sensuality during pregnancy in more practical ways. I started to infuse every aspect of my life with it! I knew that when my little one was birthed, I'd need that part of myself as healthy as possible so that I didn't fall into the "mother-only" role, because before conception I was a sensual woman already!
Finding time to tap into my juiciness with a young child has made me appreciate the present moments way more than I did previously. I released the need to feel like I always needed several hours to tap back in with myself sensually. There were plenty of times that I made 10 mins, 15 mins, 30 mins or an hour (if I got lucky! which I do now) work in my favor. Finding time to tap into my juiciness is a self-commitment that I always strive to give myself. I deserve it.
IA: Many people instantly correlate the power of feminine energy with sex but how can being in tune with it effect your life outside of the bedroom?
TA: A woman evolving the power of her feminine energy beyond the bedroom can LITERALLY change her life! When that energy is also used as fuel to and pour into other parts of her life, she'll start to experience a shift in her reality that caters to HER desires. I'm a true testament to this a thousand times over!
IA: There are many women who are totally lost when it comes to tapping into their feminine energy and you speak a lot about rituals. What is a simple ritual every woman can do to start to awaken their feminine energy?
TA: A simple ritual any woman can start doing to awaken her femininity is to dance dance DANCE. Taking the time to sensually move that bawdy without self-judgment will shift energy SO fast, as well as release any stagnant energy within her. Most songs last about 3-4 minutes, so sensual movement that is a length of a song can activate her in that short amount of time, guaranteed.
IA: Did you always know that you would be working with women on an intimate level or did it just happen? What is one of your favorite services that you offer?
TA: Deep down on some level, I've always known I would work with women but I didn't always know how that journey would unfold as I continued down this path. I just knew that I needed to flow in my purpose at all times, so that the way was always lit for me.

]]>The solar plexus is known as the “powerhouse”! The color yellow, the Sun and the fire element is associated with this chakra. This chakra starts to develop between the ages of 14-21. The solar plexus is where we start to mold and solidify our self-identity. If you remember this time of your life it is where you really started to explore who were as a person and you may have had periods of rebellion during this quest. It is also the place where we tap into the power of believing in ourselves. If you find yourself being stagnant, always procrastinating, failing to complete tasks or talking yourself out of your dreams. Your solar plexus may be out of wack!
This is the energy center of getting shit done!
This is the chakra where we gather what we learned growing up (root chakra) and how we feel about ourselves (sacral chakra) to produce results in our life. This is where our internal beliefs produce (or not) tangible results. That’s why this chakra is often associated with manifestation. Just as the sacral chakra is closely tied to women, the solar plexus is closely tied to men.
The organs and emotions associated with this chakra is the digestive system, pancreas, liver, spleen, gallbladder, kidneys, anger, beliefs, judgements, etc. Take inventory of these areas and those that you have close relationships with and ask them are they storing any anger. You can even take it a step further and analyze your habits, addictions and do a self-check with how you feel about your confidence.
Solar Plexus Reflection Questions:
How do you process life?
Were you overly praised or not praised enough?
Do you live for yourself or others?
Do you stand up for what you truly believe in?
Are you emotionally stable within yourself or do you try to control or overpower others due to lack of feeling grounded in self?
Do you start projects and leave them hanging?
Simple way to balance out your solar plexus energy:
Eat more yellow foods and herbs that nourish the kidney and liver (burdock and dandelion leaf are my favorites), yoga, martial arts, therapy, hyping yourself up with affirmations, releasing “can’t” from your subconscious, believing in yourself (this may take some time, but what’s the rush), and try a life coach or self empowerment courses. Exercise all options.
Being that this was one of the first chakras I worked deeply on, I will honestly say that it does take time, patience and surrounding yourself around the right people. I challenged myself to get out of comfort zones, worked with solar plexus stones, received consistent reiki sessions, meditated on self-empowerment with a yellow 7-day candle and took note of how I felt when I experienced any digestive issues. I still work on this chakra today, because maintenance is importance and I still have moments where I chill too hard when it comes to getting certain things done.

Center/Peacock Spirit/Queen of Pentacles-You restore balance by going within. It's time to go back into your self-care routine since there's been a wave of intensity. You would benefit from small periods of isolation, so you won't be under the influence of getting off your path. Trusting the insight you've been receiving is very important now, it's going to lead you down the path of proper alignment. Seeking approval from outside sources ain't where it's at. Stop looking for cheers and praise from those that don't understand the game you're about to play. Really ask yourself, "WHAT'S GOOD FOR ME?"
Going within requires you to be honest about where you are and where you would like to go and getting prepared for that journey. Does your values reflect where you want to be? Once that flame is lit, you'll know and those in your circle will be thinking, "Something is different about you." If you're not satisfied with your outer world, then you NEED to go within. Time to tap into that potential that will bring you stability, riches and resources. Be mindful of rushing. Gifts are produced from gratitude, discipline, PATIENCE and letting go of mental habits that prevent you from going forward.

Yes Ladies, we all adore that time of month when our visitor arrives. She comes in a timely manner or she shows up unannounced. Not only does she show up, but she can bring cramps, moodiness, heavy bleeding and cravings. Some of us experience one or more of these symptoms sometime in our lives or all of them at once. Some women view their periods/menstrual cycles/moon cycles/our little red friend or as a “pain in the ass”. Having a cycle is one of the most powerful things a woman possesses. Our diets and lifestyles are a DIRECT reflection of our cycle. When the diet is mainly meats and fried foods instead of fresh fruits and vegetables, our bodies suffer. Consuming a diet that mainly neglects fresh fruits and vegetables promotes a depressing cycle time. These foods make cycles longer, heavier and keeps on giving the gift of cramps! I don’t know about you but I love a stress free cycle. Eating a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables (particularly dark leafy greens, kale, dandelion greens, spinach, arugula) daily, reducing meat and dairy consumption will improve your cycle tremendously. I have experienced the difference for myself and I must say it is BEAUTIFUL! I have made sure to consume these foods (in the form of salads and bean dishes) at least 5-7 days before my cycles arrives and during. The results were my cycles, shorter, lighter and cramp free 😊 I also consume the herbs red raspberry leaf, alfalfa and consume wheatgrass as well. The more nutrients the better!!! Remember water intake is a very important as well, it assists with flushing toxins out of the body. I challenge you to try taking matters into your own hands for a couple of months and let me know how it turns out for you.
Also remember intense cycles may also be caused due to stress, mother issues, unresolved traumas that involved the womb and other sacral chakra imbalances. Your womb is also an indicator of what’s going on emotionally.

The sacral chakra is our powerhouse of creativity and it's associated with the color orange! It's where we birth our ideas, dreams, babies, emotions, liberations, sexual experiences and manifestations. From my studies, I've read that the energy of this chakra starts to develop and form between 6 months to 3 years old. This is the time where you learn about healthily processing your feelings and the way you express them. It is also a time where you develop compassion/sympathy for self, others and programmed subconsciously to believe if what you're expressing is "right" or "wrong".
Take a moment to reflect on how you expressed yourself when you were younger. Were you a crier? Did you scream and shout? Were you a person that spoke there mind? Did you move to the beat of your own drum? Were you the most vibrant person in the room, while everyone else was reserved? In the midst of these early stages of development, how did people react to your emotions and expressions. Did they make you feel like you were too much or overly emotional? If so, any negative response to who you were created started to create blocks in your sacral chakra.
Your feelings matter, stop holding them in before it creates physical chaos in the body.
Emotional highs and lows are normal, it's how you process them is what matters. If you're a person that uses your emotions for destruction, then you might want to explore other ways to transform them into something that's healing for you.
The element of water is connected with this chakra, so whenever you were stopped at any point in your expressions, it stopped your natural flow of being who you are. Repression stunts your growth.
Another reason why I love and work on this chakra so much is because it's connected to the womb. It's literally a woman's powerhouse, it's where she creates, attracts and magnetize. When a woman is sitting and owning her sacral energy, she doesn't go out and make things happen, she attracts them to her. The sacral is also connected to sexual energy. This energy center has an emotional memory bank, so whatever first impressions you had when it came to your sexual experiences, you can find the root of it here. Up until recently and in very special cases when it came to a person expressing themselves sensually or sexually it was looked down upon, forced to be repressed and looked up as some taboo experience. That is when repression, guilt and shame come into play. When those three emotions are present it forces an individual to hide and to not fully accept who they are as a person which in turn causes them to shield themselves from having experiences that feeds their passions and stimulates their pleasures. More than likely if you've experience any of this, it probably has effected your sex life in some type of way, whether that's not feeling comfortable, experiencing orgasms or feeling emotionally connected during intimacy.
In the physical body, the sacral represents the ovaries, testes, bladder, prostate, bowel, and spleen. If you notice any imbalances in these areas, you may want to start balancing out your sacral chakra.
Simple ways to balance your sacral chakra: hip movements through dancing, taking baths, being near salt waters, drinking more water, getting your creative dreams into the physical, self massage, exploring and finding your pleasure points, releasing guilt, embracing your emotions, healing sexual traumas, etc.

Anger/DNA/Balance-this energy might be a little intense, but that's expected when you're on the road to freedom. You may be wondering which way to go. There is anger that needs to be HAD and released. What's been bothering you on a soul level will eventually purge itself in an uncomfortable fashion. Once you release that anger, it will be very clear on which direction you will go in. How can you make room for the new, if you're holding onto a bunch of old shit? Growth isn't always comfortable, cute or easy. Whatever you've been programmed as a child that doesn't serve your adult self will be eradicated from your day to day. Think of the fire element as it burns and ignites a passion within you that makes you unstoppable. You're at that place, where whatever you want, you will get it. But in order to do that, you'll be addressing unhealthy family patterns that you carried into adulthood. Your family did the best they could with their own teachings, but now it's time to develop your own. As you get more into a balanced lifestyle of embracing your personal choices, it will create a ripple effect for the generations ahead of you. Restore yourself this month so you can actively grab what's yours. An exhausted spirit can't make shit happen.

Venus/5 of Cups/Yes-big changes are ahead in your relationships. This can be relationships with your lover, friends, family, etc. Whatever isn't getting addressed, you might find it coming to the forefront this month. There is a need for you to get in tune with what your heart needs. The storm is calling you to release those unhealthy emotions that you have regarding love. Despite what society has embedded, traumas and heartaches, you deserve healthy loving relationships. You deserved to be loved. You deserve to be touched. You deserve to experience love in it's transformative power. ALL OF IT! There will be opportunities for you to be vulnerable if you haven't been lately. Trust yourself that it's ok to show people the love bug that you are, especially if you're the type that's always unbothered or closed off. Love is powerful, bold and unapologetic with how it flows. Don't deprive yourself from it's magical powers or try to talk yourself of out connecting with those that have your best interest. Your values are changing when it comes to how you love yourself and those that don't fit in that criteria will be released. Take a look at your self-love meter and see what needs to be incorporated when it comes to giving back to yourself. Remember self-love starts from within and radiates outwards to attract complimentary energy. There's no need to search high and low for someone to fill the voids that you need to fill yourself. This is also a check-in to see if you've been receiving what you've been pouring out into people. Relationships that are holding on by a thread, will be cut off. Some of it will be painful and some of it will be freeing. Stay true to yourself and don't be a prisoner in your own relationships.

Temperance/Confidence/Pick & Choose-major decisions have to be made to bring harmony in your life. In order to get your life on the course that you want it to be on you have to be willing to let go of chaos. It won't be a pretty process, but it'll be necessary. Once you give yourself permission to strip away what no longer serves you, you'll be able to breathe better. As you go through these major changes before the spring hits, you must have confidence in the direction that you're moving in. Confidence will get you in doors that fear will keep you out of. This is the last shedding before spring kicks off at the end of the month. Release the false illusions that you have of yourself. On the flip side, you have done the work and recognized the value of having balance in your life. You're learning when to sit back and when to take action. Being balanced in masculine and feminine energy will show out in different ways in your life. Are you trying to force something to happen? Are you being too laid back about an issue? You may have been over indulging in some habit due to how you feel about yourself and now it's time to try something a little different. The changes and steps that you're willing to make towards being more in alignment with your spirit and not what you think will LITERALLY save your life. Kiss that old shit goodbye.

]]>Disclaimer: In order for any of these to work, you have to stop making excuses and make it happen.
Enjoy your own company. Some people have gotten so accustomed to being around people all the time, they forget to spend time alone. In other words, take yourself on a date and enjoy your own energy. You can do this by taking yourself out to eat, concert, movie, workshop, conference or on a trip to refresh your mind. This is also a good exercise for you if you feel you always need to have someone with you to go somewhere.
Pamper Yourself. You're touch deprived. One of the reasons, many people walk around with stiff ass energy is because they aren't being touched enough. I know they're some cases why people don't want to be touched, but once they work through the trauma, they still need touch. Touch is healing. Think about how good it feels when you get a warm long embrace or when you see children run around hugging and invading people's personal space. Just giving up all the loving vibes! Some ways you can incorporate touch more into your life is by getting massages, hugging people longer, manicures, pedicures, etc. If you're very selective about people touching you, then grab your favorite body butter and massage your feet. It's so relaxing, especially if you do it before bed!
Redesign Your Space. Your environment effects your mood. Does your space bring you joy? Do the colors in your frequented spaces calm you? Are you excited to come home? Does your living room need some new pillows or accent pieces? Your space is also a reflection of you. Make sure you take the time to make your spaces sacred, warm and inviting to YOU. Don't overwhelm yourself, start with one room at a time. You can get inspiration from Pinterest, YouTube, HGTV, magazines, books, etc. This is a fun opportunity to tap into your personal home design style.
Get Some Rest. Another mood killer, lack of rest. Many of us have been programmed that sleeping in later means you're "lazy". If you need permission to be "lazy", you have my blessing! Have you noticed how you look when you get more rest? Getting more sleep means more dreams, clearer skin, energy increase and you're able to approach tasks and projects with a fresh mind. Of course there are times where you'll be required be awake for longer periods of times. But what can you do now to increase rest time? Do you need to hire a babysitter? Cut back on extracurricular overload? Do you need to start saying NO and releasing the fear of disappointing people? Can you incorporate a 30 minute nap? Do you have to plan everything on that certain Saturday? Be mindful of creating schedules that rob you of your rest.
Cooking. Do you cook with love and passion? Have you ever tasted the energy in someone's food and you just know they put their heart into it? Do that for yourself. You might want to switch up from making the same recipes and try something new. Research different recipes from different cultures and put your own spin on it. You deserve to try different things. Take it a step further and make a pretty plate presentation. If you end up messing up the recipe, don't freak out. Laugh at yourself and take yourself out to eat.
Check that Mental Health. Mental health is the new sexy. If you know something is off then go ahead to talk to someone professionally. Also, if you need to talk to someone because you've been through some things, adjusting to life transitions and need to have a check in then talking to a counselor or therapist will be beneficial you. Mental health is another form of self-care that gets overlooked. It's not solely based on baths and massages. Where you are mentally effects everything around you from your closest relationships, finances, decision making process, etc.
Educate Yourself. Feed your mind. Learning does not stop in your early 20s. When you view life as one big school, then you know learning never stops. If you ever feel like you should be doing more; YOU ARE. There is always something new that you can be acquiring knowledge on. You can be perfecting your craft, learning a new skill or improving in areas that you're already performing well in. Enroll in a class, internet course or something expands your intellectual skills. Your reality is only as big as your perception. Are there any new topics you can research? Cultures? Money? Spiritual Growth? Fashion? There are so many things that you can explore. Don't limit yourself and feed your curiosity. In this age you can expand your wisdom by what feeds your learning style. They're regular books, audiobooks, online courses, interactive workshops, magazines, etc.

I started taking meditation seriously when I was around 23 years old, it was an interesting experience to say the least. Hell, that whole year and the spiritual activity I was experiencing had me like “WTF!” I can say 23 was a very transformative year for me. That was the year I got intensely into “eating healthy”. Ya girl was trying everything from a pescatarian, vegan, vegetarian to raw food fasting. (Now I eat whatever my body wants) That was the first time I actually cared about what went into my body. I use to eat everything, my water intake was shitty and the only fresh food I ate was salads and fruits. Like most people in their early 20s, I was all into fast food and trying to eat at every restaurant I heard about. Being more mindful of what I put in my body combined with cleanses and herbs unlocked something within spiritually.
During this time, I was heavily on Twitter and saw someone I was connected with talk about crystals and meditation. So I took my little happy little self to the metaphysical store, got some crystals and a pouch. I think my first crystals were amethyst, rose quartz, clear quartz, sodalite, tigers’s eye, carnelian, citrine and onyx. I cleansed my crystals and wore them around my neck in the little pouch I purchased. One night I decided that I was going to lay in the bed, meditate and “see” what happens. I started taking deep inhale and exhales with crystals hanging on my neck. MAN! I think that was my first trippy experience with meditation. I slipped into some type of trance or realm and my body was lit up. My body was full of pink light and I was like WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT! I was in a deep state of relaxation and elated about this new “discovery” during meditation. From then on, I meditated when I felt led to or when I wanted to increase my "downloads". I did this by meditating in nature, under the sun and gazing at the moon.

Years later, I started to grasp what this meant. We all have spirit guides and ancestors that talk to us all the time, that’s why it’s important to listen. I remember reading in a book that the perfect time to connect with spirits was between 4-6am. I think I had to be at work at 7:15 am during this time. Guess who gathered the courage to get up a tad bit earlier to get some messages? Me. This morning stuck out so vividly. I grabbed my Kyanite stone (excellent for spirit guides) and meditated. My body started doing it’s regular motion (rocking in a mini vortex) while meditating and SHE appeared. She didn’t tell me her name but I knew she was a midwife spirit guide. For those that aren’t aware I’m a birthworker/doula and in the future I'll probably be some form of a midwife. This elderly woman, she looked to be about 90 years old, felt sweet as pie, her wrinkles in her face displayed wisdom and with her head covered she showed me what to do energetically when I catch a baby and hold it for the first time. I thanked her as a tear streamed down my face.
That year I had many experiences where I felt and seen my spirit guides in meditation and out. I knew what each of them were there to help me for, felt them near me at times and even got confirmations in readings about who they were. Most of my spirit guides are intense, anyone that has ever read for me have always asked, “Do they always speak like this?”.
I just reply, “Yeah.”
Everyone has their own experience with meditation. But I know meditation personally has helped me with:
-increasing my intuition
-listening to my body (paying attention to sensations, aches, feelings)
-relaxing if my mind if it decides it wants to go 1000 mph
-able to hear my ancestors and spirit guides clearly
-removing subconscious blocks that hold me back
-increasing my creativity/inspiration to do more things
-being more in tune with what resonates for me
-making important decisions when I'm in a state of indecisiveness
and much more.
I encourage you to meditate, because that it will change your life and it will come as natural as breathing.
]]>I originally connected with Lori through Facebook and I would read her posts about skincare and they definitely influenced me to take better care of my skin, after all it's another branch in the self-care category. At the time we connected, I didn't realize how much I needed a regimen and that I needed one ASAP! After reading her posts and blogs for a few months, I excitedly booked a consultation and it was so informative. She gracefully checked me on the wrong things that most people do when it comes to DIY skincare and of course I was happily doing some of those things :) But when you know better, you do better! Lori has such a sweet energy and I walked away with more than just products, I had received simple daily things that I could incorporate with my skin type that would enhance my experience with Derm Appetit.
Enough about my experience, let's get to know Lori Angel and her views on self-care through skincare.
IA: Tell us about yourself and what exactly is Derm Appetit?
Lori: I am Lori Angel, the conscious esthetician, the skincare alchemist, and the pore pastor. I spend most of my days fighting skincare crime and sitting on the trials of skin that have been violated and domestically abused! I am an advocate for divine femininity and all things Libra...I mean all things beautiful...which are really the same thing if you ask me. I am into total wellness and health. Skincare is my ministry and passion, it is how I teach the hearts and minds of all who are a vibrational match to me. Derm Appetit is a church that one attends and they tithe to me. In return they receive the blessing of clear and holistic skin.
IA: I love your truth and sense of humor! How did you get into skincare? Did you know you would always be doing this?
Lori: I've been into skincare since I can remember. My Mom worked for a cosmetic company and often brought home skincare items that would become my unofficial skincare brand by mixing them up and cocktailing them into my own. I didn't know at that time I was creating what I was, I was just doing what came natural to me .
IA: Why is skincare important? Why can't we just get by with soap and water?
Lori: Skincare is important because it isn't a luxury, it is a necessity. Our skin is the medium between the outer and inner worlds. It is a barrier that protects what is inner and sacred. When we neglect our skin, we don't feel as close to God as we could. We need to connect ourselves to God through nature and one way to do this is to apply nature topically and once we do that it gets absorbed into our cells and we become one with nature! We also rid ourselves of bacteria, debris and energy that collects on the surface of our skin and in biofields which is better known as our aura!
IA: What happens when we don't take care of our skin?
Lori: We don't age as gracefully as we could and we don't thrive as high as we should. We don't feel as connected as we can and we don't look as fabulous as we should. Our skin is the envelope of God and we must keep is clean and hydrated. It is our largest organ and it needs to be nourished and healed just as much if not more as the other internal organs.
IA: What's your favorite beauty ritual?
Lori: My favorite ritual is the Vajacial. It really means that you're taking the time to care for yourself and your skin when you give your yoni a facial treatment! You are taking the time to be one with her by pampering her. This is a very empowering skincare and beauty ritual that I recommend women of all ages after puberty engage in regularly.
IA: Is there anything else you would like to share with us regarding skincare and beauty rituals?
Lori: Yes, we should not be too busy to pamper our skin and we should never be too cheap to invest in it! For what we do to our sin, we are merely maintaining it for the next generation! Garbage in, garbage out!

If you're experiencing certain blockages, I'm going to point you in the direction of your childhood. Infanthood and childhood is a very impressionable time and even though you weren't able to fully verbally communicate things as a baby, you still "felt" things. Babies and children are highly intuitive because they're closer to she spirit realm than adults and they haven' been tainted by society yet. In the previous post, I mentioned that the personality starts to form in the womb because you are a collection of your mother's and father's DNA. That DNA/energy holds the memories and behaviors of those before you. Some of your personality was pre-determined, whatever your parents felt during pregnancy plays a major part in how you are today. Your childhood experiences set the tone for how you relate, communicate and participate in LIFE on a conscious and unconscious level. There are behaviors you do in adulthood that you're completely oblivious to that developed from your childhood. The oblivious behaviors create more blockages and ongoing battles in your life. The behaviors you're aware of can also create disruptions as well if you don't work on correcting them. Some of the most common patterns are listed below:
The root chakra is part of "setting" the stone for your life. It was the first chakra to develop while you were in your mother's womb up until the age of 7. Even though you may adjust certain things throughout your adult life, your personality has always been set from the very beginning of time. This chakra main focus deals with family because family is the first tribe that you're introduced to when you enter this earthly realm and get "planted". What type of family/tribe were you introduced to?
Through this chakra you learn cultural norms of your family (immediate and non-immediate), this can include religion, cultural, neighborhood, society and regional practices. Self-empowerment and identifying who you are as a person take places here. Imagine root chakra behavior as people claiming what "hood" or city they're from, certain words/slangs used in parts of the world, dressing styles, family traditions, foods and the simplest things as how you keep your home. Just like the old sayin, "Home is where the heart is," applies to the chakra. How does your home life play into your life now? Do you still do those things you were taught as a child? Learning how to make your bed, doing the dishes, eating together as a family, making tv time family bonding time mannerisms, money management, values, morals, receiving basic needs (shelter, water, food, love ) observing aduts coping with drugs, abuse, drinking for celebrations or woes are all things you observe during the root chakra. This is the learned behavior chakra whether what you experienced was beautiful or toxic.
Survival, nurturing and a sense of "belonging" are also key focuses of this energy center. If you're a person that worries constantly about money and keeping your rent paid, this energy stems from the root chakra. If any of these areas aren't properly invested in, it can manifest as a person feeling/being all over the place, constantly living in their head instead of present reality, feelings of abandonment, instability in character/personality, fear of rejection, etc.
In the physical body this may causes imbalances with your back, kidneys, legs, feet, reproductive organs, lower intestine, etc.

What's the big fuss?
The big fuss about chakras is that people aim to have them "balanced". The interesting part that people forget to tell you is that your chakras are always spinning at different speeds depending on the situation and what may have happed during the day. When the chakras are spinning at a noticeably slower pace or not moving at all, it will cause an eyebrow to raise. I remember a few year ago I was getting reiki from my sista friend practitioner and she said my heart chakra was flipped inside out. I actually felt her flip it and we both were like "What the hell? That was interesting," at the end of the session. The intention is to have all your chakras flowing in a nice circular rhythm (as opposed to inside out) because all of them work in harmony with each other. If you've experienced any constant blockages in your life in certain areas, that may be an indication of a chakra needing some TLC and a tune up.

]]>Everyone talks about manifesting but there are some things that you need to take into consideration. You won't manifest certain things because it's not "time" yet and there are things that YOU have to do on your part to make it happen. Check out the list below to see if you're creating any blockages in your manifestations:
Mixed Messages- are you being crystal clear with what you want? Are you sending indecision into the Universe. It's hard to produce anything when your mind is swinging back and forth. Be decisive.
Cleanliness-the level of tidiness in your space determines if your wishes will come true. If your personal spaces are hella junky and unorganized you're blocking a flow of allowing your abundance to come through. Stagnant energy lives in clutter, especially in piles of things. Your personal spaces includes bedrooms, bathrooms, workspaces, cars, wallets, purses, kitchens, etc. What can you throw away or organize?
Appreciation-show gratitude for what you currently have. If you're constantly complaining about how everything is wrong, then 9 times out of 10 you probably won't appreciate the new blessing because you're sending out "It's never enough" energy.
Reality Check-in order to manifest what you truly want your energy has to align with your wishes. If you want a healthy loving relationship then you can't be in a current relationship with Boo Boo the Fool. How can what you truly want find you if you have something unnecessary taking up space?
Expectations-you get so excited, write all these intentions and nothing happens.....so you think. You wanted to manifest $75 for food but your friend bought you lunch, the cashier gifted you a discount at the grocery store and your Mom didn't have enough room in her freezer and told you to come take the extra food. See how that works? Release the expectation of what it's suppose to look like. Be open and pay attention.
Trust-Faith and trusting the unknown are the magic recipes in manifesting. If you don't have neither one of these, you can forget it!
Mindset-the way we view certain situations can create a block in manifesting. Asking for a promotion at work with "I don't deserve this" in the back of your mind is subconsciously asking for what you DON'T want. Reprogramming outdated thoughts are another key component in manifesting. If your mental and emotional doesn't align with the intention, expect less than mediocre results. Changing your mindset can take years, especially if you're holding onto beliefs from childhood. Be patient with yourself.
One Size Does Not Fit All-you have to find your manifesting swag. Writing down intentions or creating vision boards may not work for you. You may need to try something else. Dancing, doodling, visualizing and chanting is my thing even though I love to write. Exercising, meditation, yoga, painting, affirmations, prayer, fasting (refraining from consuming certain things/detoxing) candles or crystals may work for you. Explore what works for you and be open if that changes from time to time.

Old, hurtful and stagnant emotions have the potential to make you sick.
Emotions are simply energy in motion. Some things you feel strongly about and some you don't. Today, we’re starting to see changes in people’s perceptions of emotions, but we still exist in a society where “being in your feelings” is looked upon as an inconvenience or a sign of weakness. Reality is, any emotion outside of joy or happiness is barely tolerated and seldom embraced. Anger, resentment, pain, hurt, sadness, trauma are expected to be kept to yourself and placed neatly into pockets of your soul. When these emotions are stored and not properly processed or expressed it can develop into the following, dis-eases in the body, barriers in relationships, emotional spazzing with no resolution, a disconnect from self, unidentified fears, and the list goes on. The deeper unresolved emotions, the deeper the issue presents itself in your day-to-day life and you feel like you've lost control. There are many emotions that are stored in our spiritual body and DNA. At times the unexplained emotions and trauma we have are those of our parents, grandparents, ancestors and so on because they are us and we are them. Yes! You store the pain from those before you and in your environment. Your DNA and spirit is a memory bank, your ancestors emotions and traumas are still effecting you to this day if you never worked on them. That's why energetic hygiene is a MUST. Self-work is a MUST. Having uncomfortable talks with yourself is a MUST. Once you come into this awareness and actively get into clearing yourself, there is a rewriting of the DNA that takes place. This balances out your self-healing, those before you and those that will be born after.
Just like you monitor your money, food and goals you need to accomplish, the same initiative needs to be taken when it comes to your emotions. It's so easy to tell yourself the same story over and over again. Being the victim seems to be more comfortable than rewiring how you feel and processing emotions. It seems like it's common sense, but people try to out run themselves instead of stepping into their shadows everyday.
Don't get me wrong, I think emotions are a beautiful thing, but when they're held so tightly and not allowed to pass they cause disruption. The key is to feel the emotions. Don't let them drown you into a state of stagnancy. One of the reasons I love reiki and meditation so much is because they’re powerful tools that assist in releasing the deep emotions that we unconsciously desire to hang on to. It's not always about fairies and zen, some sessions will pull some old deep shit up out of you, leaving you exhausted. That's ok though, because the work got done.
Stagnant emotions have been connected to physical imbalances. These are some of the common aches, pain, diseases and the emotions that are related to them:
Back pain- fear, defeated, instability.
High Blood Pressure-anger (mostly from childhood).
Womb Issues-emotions tied to our mother, mothering, motherhood and shame.
Male Reproductive Issues-not feeling able to provide, protect and secure stability.
Heart Issues-feeling of not being love, nurtured, heartache, broken heart
Digestion-feelings of needing to control everything and not go with the flow of life

-journaling, writing or channeling that energy into something creative
-forgiveness
-Akashic Records, past life healings, DNA or Ancestral Clearings
-massage
-reiki
-expressing yourself and having those tough conversations
-finding a solution and taking those steps to make it happen
-yoga
-asking family members questions that don't like to speak on to gain a better understanding of family emotional patterns, habits and cycles
Release what needs to be released and be gentle with yourself. Remember that it took years to develop these patterns and it WILL take some time to release them. Healing doesn’t happen overnight.

3 Simple ways to reset your energy:
Make noise! Negative energy doesn't like the sound of loud or high pitch noises. You can clap your hands around your aura, play a singing bowl, ring a bell, get some chimes, blow a whistle, etc. You have many options you can utilize to break up the energy around you.
Visualization Meditation! Imagine a white light (or pick your power color) going around your aura and set the intention for protection from anything that doesn't serve your higher good.

The energy of eclipses are powerful. I was told that's when the sun, moon and earth are in alignment. You know what that made me think of? The chiropractor. Chiropractors focus on getting your spine aligned and into balance because when it isn't you can experience everything from knee discomfort, colon issues, sinuses, etc. Imagine walking around for years with piss poor posture and you get that first alignment hearing that first crack. It feels weird and uncomfortable at first and if you're like me, you might say,
"Oh shit, I saw my life flash before my eyes."
Even though it feels uncomfortable, you start to notice changes immediately.
That's kind of what an eclipse feels like and the effects can last for up to 6 months.
The things that aren't aligned with your spirit the eclipse will literally CLIP and SNIP it away without your permission. The CLIP and SNIP are preparations to get you in position for things are rightfully yours and to correct yourself in certain situations. Just remember "As above, so below." Since this is a super full moon, full moons are best for RELEASING. How can we ask for new things with old things still crowding out minds, physical places and unnecessary people in out spaces?
I challenge you to create your own ritual or practice for the full moon. The more intentional you are the better. If you don't believe in your own personal power to make shit move, then you can stop reading now.
Below are some simple tips for a full moon ritual. Get creative as you like and cater it to your liking:
-Clear yourself with Palos Santos or Sage (if you use sage, make sure you burn something sweet and meaningful immediately afterwards. This can be an incense/palos santos/sweetgrass/etc.) I would even suggest taking a salt bath to clear your aura or energy.
-Set your intention of what you'll be releasing.
-Release (you can do this by journaling, meditation, lighting a candle, dancing, throwing away a list of things you want to shed in the garbage, water, fire, etc.)
-Welcome in the intention of what you're desiring to receive (you can use the same type of practice you did for releasing).
-Close the ritual with a prayer of protection, affirmation, instrumental sounds, etc.

I always get told by people that they "can't" meditate or focus.
That's fine, it's a solution for that......The Peace Cup.
The Peace Cup is something you can create on your own time to help you focus with your own meditation. You can get very simple with this or you can go ALL out with your creative process. These are the things you'll need:
-Scissors
-Sheet of Paper
-Cup, bowl or basket
-Markers, pens, pencils or crayons
First you will need to make a list of 6-8 things you want to work on by meditating (you can do more if you're the intense type life me).
Next, cut your piece of paper into 6-8 pieces and write or draw each focus on their own small piece.
Then, place the focuses in the cup. After that you will pull a focus per day for you to meditate on. Meditation comes in many forms and you can choose which way you would like to meditate for the day.
Example: You pull the word "Forgiveness" and ask yourself how would you like to work on your focus. You can close your eyes and meditate on the word forgiveness and see what comes up, write in a journal those who you would like to forgive or create an affirmation about forgiveness to repeat to yourself throughout the day.
That's it! It doesn't have to be this big complicated thing.
I hope you enjoy this mindful exercise and get more comfortable with your meditation practices.

Ok but seriously, I had gotten cards for myself in 2015. I would pick them for myself and journal what insight I would receive by reading the meaning in the book. I also started reading myself because I would get readings on a regular basis and sometimes I didn't feel like spending the money. Simple solution: Imani read yo damn self.
In 2016, I got HEAVY into building my card collection. If you have cards of your own, you know they come with books that tell you the meaning of each card. I would pick a card and flip through the book to see what each cards means. It was cute and fun at first since I enjoyed writing. The thrill of writing on paper gets me hot!
Until one day...
I was in this money saving messenger group on Facebook. We kind of talked about everything and a little about money. We did meditations, pulled cards and built a sisterhood. It was dope! The thing was when we pulled cards for each other we would pull cards and put pictures of the meaning in the messenger thread. It was sort of a tedious task especially if one card has PAGES of messages and we were pulling more than one card per person. It was starting to annoy me and it was taking up too much space in my phone. One particular night I wanted to pull cards for everyone with my new deck. I was also feeling "lazy" and over the whole flipping and snapping pictures of card meanings. This new deck had 72 cards and I ain't have time for all that page flipping. So I said I wasn't using the book.
and that's when it happened....
I pulled someone cards and just "zoned out" and I was on point with it! I surprised myself because the person I read for was the quiet person in the group at the time and I didn't have anything to go off of.
OH SHIT IMANI YOU CAN READ CARDS
So that was a little boost for my self-esteem. I always knew I would be reading people, but I didn't know WHEN or HOW because it seemed so far-fetched but so familiar at the same time.
Then let's be real, I wasn't raised in a family where readings were a normal thing. What would they think? I mean my immediate family really weren't phased because they know me and I would pull cards for them from time to time. But how do you tell people that you read cards?
Reflecting back...
I can say that I've been reading people just through dreams. I always had a few people that would hit me up about their dreams, especially my one Libra Big Sis! She would really push me to read her dreams, "Come on I know you can do this!"
I was thinking to myself, "Damn she a little pushy, why does she think I can do this?"
4/5 years later I was able to see and grasp what she saw in me because after all people that are in tune with her intuitive nature can spot another reader from a mile away.
Ok back to the story....
After my little brief discovery of my gift. I continued to read myself and we continued to have more card pulls in the group. The more I practiced and trusted myself, the “clearer” the messages became. I think at the end of 2016. I started sending my close homies private messages telling them I offer “business readings” and basic readings because I wanted to try out some new card spreads and strengthen my gift even more. Those business readings were on point if I must say so myself :)
Intuition is like a muscle, I had to work that thang to build its strength. The more I worked it, the more it unlocked. There messages started to flow, instead of sporadic moments of messages coming to me.
2017, I was moved to Atlanta and I had just HAD to get a reading since my energy was getting adjusted to the new city. So my roommate connected me with a reader she raved about on the regular. She called him over and he was on point with a lot of things and my maternal Grandmother even came through him. I learned early on, she is very protective and particular that will only come through those that have the purest intentions. During the reading he said, “You’re supposed to be doing what I’m doing. You can basically sit in a circle and talk to spirits.”
He wasn’t lying.
Spirits have always talked to me, I’ve seen a few and they talk to me. Some have even spoken to me in different languages and I had to say, "English please."
As I have gotten older, the messages have smoothed out some because it use to be a gang of spirits that would run up on me and try to talk at the same time and I had to literally say "One at a time please!" I was just getting comfortable with that part of myself as well.
TO BE CLEAR, spirits don’t talk to everybody so if you were to come to me asking for someone to come through in a reading, the spirit would have to feel comfortable to “talk” through me to you. They’re selective as hell and they have a right to pick and choose. The quickest way to get insight from your loved ones that have passed on it to “call them up yourself”. They’ll answer if they feel you are ready for the messages.
The funny thing about readings is they’re confirmations and if you don’t listen or do the homework THE SAME DAMN MESSAGE WILL REPEAT ITSELF. When your spirit guides and ancestors want you to GET THE MESSAGE, they will make sure YOU GET THE MESSAGE. I GOT THE MESSAGE loud an clear, "Start reading and get serious about it."
I was receiving the same message since I was 25 (now I’m 30) that I’m suppose to be reading people. I received this message from my readings and my highly intuitive friends and after that reading it JUST CLICKED. EVEN THOUGH I WAS STILL SHY AS HELL ABOUT IT, I made the conscious decision to pursue this more. I went from sending messages to my friends if they wanted a reading, to shyly telling people I do readings, to fully announcing it like HEY I DO READINGS WOULD YOU LIKE ONE, THEY’RE ON MY SITE!
This also pushed me to make my own deck of cards. I made my own deck of cards because I really didn’t want to “study” a deck and the book that came with it. I must have a personal vendetta against tarot and oracle deck books. I created a deck of cards that carried my uniqueness and were relatable for people to understand. The messages on my cards are straight to the point for the most part. Making cards fed my artsy spirit and my intuitive woo woo. Once I had a decent amount of cards made (I think close to 42), I decided I was going to start reading people with them and add more images as I progressed with my readings.
This took time (not much) and pushing from my friends, another reason why YOUR CIRCLE IS SO IMPORTANT. My roommate would straight tell people that came to the house OH IMANI DOES READINGS. I was excited and wanted to cringe at the same time because being put on the spot isn’t my favorite past time even though it pushed me out of my comfort zone. I’m forever grateful for all my uncomfortable moments.
But I knew in order for me to grow into my spiritual gifts, I had to drop something. Something I was supposed to DROP the year prior. But fear and comfort zones will delay the real shit from taking place in your life. Why do you think I talk about fears and comfort zones so much? Lol. I’m going to say that the day I moved in February 2017 I received a vision that I was to STOP selling earrings by my 30th birthday. I had eight months to get it out of my system. What a grace period :)
The more I started reading for people and doing guided meditations, the confirming dream came again in case I wanted to play cute and forget. Septemember 2017, I had two dreams that my earrings were in the trash. I had to let go and throw it all away. That phase BEEN OVER. I set the date for the last collection because I have manners (most of the times) and I didn’t just want to stop without telling my loyal customers. Then after that I would really indulge in my dreams 1000000% because I’m here to be a messenger in many forms. Through readings, meditations, doula work, etc.
I knew I made the right decision to start doing readings because I made more money (more money is always a confirmation for me that I made the right decision letting of some habit, person or situation) and there is a sense of soul food when I assist my lovely clients. Another thing that I had to get comfortable with was saying things that came to me even if it made no damn sense lol. I will straight up tell a client I'm seeing a purple unicorn and I have no idea what that means. It's always good to share the unsureness because more than likely it will make sense to them or after some time has passed.
My clients feel like family and I make it a point to make sure they receive from me what they’re seeking. CLARITY. Truth is, most of my clients are intuitive as hell and sometimes we all need a little confirmation. Hell, I still get readings from time to time. Ain’t nothing wrong with a little clarity, confirmation and insight.
But I can say since I started doing readings I have noticed that there are other spiritual workers who don’t have the best interest of others. Just like there’s dirty pastors, there are fraudulent energy workers who like to pry on the energy of others and feed their egos in the proceess. There are energy workers who will tell you just enough or put you in a place of being needy of them. I am not that person, I like to pass along tools and resources because when it comes to healing YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON that can heal yourself, do the work and make decisions that work for you.
Below I share what to expect in a reading/energy report from myself and what to look for when you’re seeking a reader.
What to expect from my energy reports/readings:
Why is it called energy reports? I call them energy reports because that’s all readings are they are based off of the energy that is being put of by the individual. Energy doesn’t lie.
No Questions. I don’t take too many questions, I practice the art of going with the flow and receiving what we need to hear at that given moment.
I’m not a timetable. Predicting future events isn’t my thing, if something of the future comes up then I relay the message. My style is mostly catered to what’s going in with the individual from an emotional/energetic standpoint. Self-care is the theme because everything that you’re connected to starts with self.
Spirit Guides and Ancestors. Your spirit guides or ancestors guide may come through the reading and deliver messages. There are other forces in different realms that like to assist us with our waking life.
Process. Energy reports take time, well actually I have to be in the zone to complete one. It’s sort of like a meditation for me. I say a protective prayer and I get to relaying messages that comes through the cards or energies that pop in. I don’t do that many energy reports a week because I like to keep my energy balanced. I can’t serve people from an empty cup. Readings and energy reports take energy and I make sure that my energy is up for every reading by making sure I am rested properly and WELL FED. Doing readings BURN food fast and doing one on an empty stomach isn’t the best idea for me or a client.
What to look for or consider when getting a reading from someone:
Energy. Energy is everything. Everyone can’t read for everyone. If I get a client that I can’t read, let’s just say I will refund their monies or let them know I’m not able to do it. I’m not in the practice of taking any ole body money. When I say can’t read, that means our energies don’t match and it wouldn’t be complimentary. Plus, I’m not required to read for everyone because I’m not for everyone. Also, if you are looking to get a reading from myself or others and something doesn’t feel right, you don’t have to pursue any further. You can politely excuse yourself and go back to minding your own business.
Testimonials. Look for testimonials or ask can you be referred to a few clients that they have worked it.
Be clear. If there is something in particular that you are searching for then be intentional and be open to how the message comes. If you are searching for clarity, peace, insight, ancestral connection, health, spiritual cleansing, etc., then connect to energy workers that specialize in that area. There are soooooo many different readings. I have had mediumship, tarot, astrology, human design, energy work, reiki, shells, etc. They all provided something different that assisted me with unlocking more then about myself. Readings have also encouraged me to dig deeper and research more knowledge of the things I have received because I’m a nerd like and being a true blue Scorpio, I need to know the depth of everything.
Observe. Being that we are in a time where people aren’t transparent but they are posing as transparent, it is important to watch how people receive them and if you’re really aligned with their mission. Trust me, I have had some experiences where people weren’t transparent and the end result was nothing pretty.
Process. Every energy worker has a process. What is their process? Are you comfortable with their process? Wait time? Preparation (doing things before the reading)?
